Planning & Zoning Meeting, Tuesday, April 15, 2025 @ 1:00pm - Chase County Courthouse
Chase County, originally part of neighboring Hayes County to the east, had its boundaries established by the Legislature on February 27, 1873, although the organization of the county did not begin until 1886. The county was named after Champion S. Chase, who served as mayor of Omaha for seven years and was Nebraska’s first Attorney General. Several towns within the county competed to become the county seat. It took three elections before Imperial was named the county seat in 1889 and the first courthouse was built. In 1910 that building was destroyed by fire, the following year a new brick and cement courthouse replaced it. That building is still in use today.
Chase County operates under 15 separate offices. View the duties of each office and the main contact information.
